UnicoOne of a kind · made to order
No two instruments from Gregorio’s bench are alike. Each is made to order around the musician who will play it: the size and model, the choice of wood, the arching and the colour of the varnish are decided together, so that it fits your hand, your repertoire and the sound you hear in your head. Double bass · Opus 01 shows what that can become — yours will be made for you alone.

How Double bass · Opus 01 was made
Double bass · Opus 01 was built entirely by Gregorio Martini, one piece at a time. The top is carved from spruce, the back and ribs from maple; both plates were arched and graduated by hand until they rang with the right tone.
The scroll was cut freehand, the varnish applied in thin layers and slowly cured, and the instrument was then set up, played and adjusted until its voice was balanced across all four strings.
